Getting a blogging audience to fill out a survey is like getting college students to do homework: difficult, even with bribery. Thanks to those who partook and shared your thoughts on our blog, as well as your best coffee stories (or tea, as the case may be). The consensus is that people like the blog a lot (thank you!), want more ways to interact (stay tuned!), and aren’t wild about the J&L Chats (we’re strategizing on this one). Thanks again!
Part of the survey, for you ingrates who just read the blog without expecting to do any homework (gah!), was to share a good coffee story. Here are some of them: Continue reading →
Holly is still waking up very early. It must be these last couple of teeth she’s cutting: they seem to demand a 5 am wake up call. I’ve done it several days in a row so now I’m waking up, on my own, at 5. (Which is fine, if you’re used to it.) Holly and I get up. We go downstairs and she helps me make the coffee, and then I let her pick a TV show and I read or blog/facebook.
Lately, Holly has become very interested in my coffee. She sometimes asks for her own “Holly coffee,” which I mix with lots of cream in a wee enamel mug. She wants to graduate to the hard stuff, though: she has stolen sips of my coffee more than once, and even though she refers to it as “yucky coffee,” she still wants some. This morning, she peered up at me after having some na-nas and watching Doctor Dora, and said, “Mommy, please have sip yours yucky coffee?”
And who am I to deny her? I love my morning coffee with a fierceness that’s difficult to describe. Although we brew economical, middle-of-the-road Maxwell House drip coffee, I still take great pride in making a great pot of coffee: 9 cups of water, 3 generous scoops, and a sprinkling of salt (an army trick that my Dad’s Dad, a World War II vet, passed down).
Jen and I are getting ready to do some graphics revamping on Mama Nervosa, and the first thing we both immediately agreed on was that somewhere, somehow, a cup of coffee must be featured. Because, although we don’t get together ever (we’ve only met once in person, believe it or not), I am quite sure that if and when we do, it will be over a cup of coffee, probably with stacks of books to exchange, and lots of funny stories. What’s better for talk amongst friends than some java? This song pretty much says it all:
I love coffee, I love tea. I love the java jive and it loves me. A cup, a cup, a cup, a cup. Boy!
We want to sit down over some coffee with you guys. We just hit our third month of existence. We made a big change by moving to a self-hosted blog, and pretty soon we’ll be updating our look. We’re going through some growing pains: stretching out our limbs and asking where have we been? Where are we going? We want to know what you think: what do you want more of? What could you take or leave? We want the next three months to be all about our readers: more coffee! More conversation! To that end, we created a READER SURVEY that we would very much appreciate you filling out.
It will take less than 4 minutes. At the end, you have the chance to enter and win a $10 Starbucks Gift Card.
